Arnhem Land

Arnhem Land is located in the north-eastern corner of the Northern Territory in Australia.

It spans 37,000 sq. miles and is mostly bushland with sparsely populated indigenous communities. They are isolated from each other by terrain and distance and the predominant population is the Yolŋu.

The seven aircraft operated by MAF in Arnhem Land provide the communities with access to healthcare, education and development opportunities. MAF flights also support the local church by flying in the Good News to communities that suffer from alcohol and substance abuse. MAF brings transformation and hope to the Yolŋu in every flight, every day.

‘MAF is a lifeline in Arnhem Land. Places like Yilpara, you can’t get here by vehicle because the road is too slippery and muddy, and you’ll get bogged down – especially in the wet season. The only way to travel is by MAF.’
Gerard, Yolŋu evangelist and MAF co-worker
