On Thursday 20th February, the King and the Queen hosted a reception at Buckingham Palace in London. This was to recognise the humanitarian work undertaken by national and international organisations and to mark Their Majesties’ long-standing support for humanitarian causes.
MAF was represented at the event by:
Donovan Palmer – CEO, MAF UK
Max Gove - Trustee of MAF UK who has served in various roles since 1971 including as a pilot, Country Director and senior leader. He has also been involved in opening new flight programmes including Uganda, Timor Leste and Liberia.
Sam Baguma - Deputy Country Director, Uganda.
Becky Waterman – with her engineer husband, Dave, Becky has served for seven years, including in Uganda and Liberia.
They were able to talk to Their Majesties and HRH Princess Anne, The Princess Royal, about MAF’s mission, ministry and impact.
Sam Baguma said: ‘It was such an honour to be recognised by the King and Queen for the contribution we make in the humanitarian sector. I was particularly struck by the number of people we met at the function who said how much they value the work of MAF. So many people said they’d been on MAF planes in different parts of the world and appreciated MAF’s services… wonderful to know that what we do everyday makes a huge difference to the people we serve.’
