Bangladesh remains one of the poorest and most densely populated countries in the world. The lack of development and basic services in isolated and inaccessible areas is directly attributable to its geographic location.
Can you imagine what it would be like if you–or someone you love–got sick or hurt in Bangladesh? If you were poor and had no money for hospital, what would you do? How would you get help? What can be done in such situations?
MAF’s one amphibious aircraft provides a critical lifeline to get visiting medical teams to one of the three hospital ships that serve the poorest and most disadvantaged in Bangladesh. Patients arrive from near and far, coming by boat, bus and walking to the one of these hospital ships docked on a “char” (river islands formed from sedimentation) in northern Bangladesh.
These floating hospitals offer General care, Pediatric, Eye and Dental services on a daily basis and regularly have visiting surgeon specialists, who can do plastic surgery on burn victims.
You can see how visiting medical teams charities depend on us to get where they need to go. Your support of MAF’s work in Bangladesh is vital! Your gift will help MAF fly medical teams to the floating hospital ships!
