Lawrence is a proud “Westie”, having spent his younger days in the Henderson area. Rosalie and Lawrence were married 47 years ago in Ashhurst, Manawatu and have three adult children and six grandchildren.
Lawrence’s education was at Henderson High School and the old ATI, and his working life of almost 40 years was spent with Fletcher Building. During this time Lawrence and his family were privileged to have lived in many of New Zealand's great towns and cities. He finished his corporate career in a senior general management role in the South Island. Over the last 17 years Lawrence and Rosalie have managed their own businesses and been involved in numerous church, mission, charity and trust roles.
Lawrence’s connection with MAF goes back to the 1950s when his father was a good mate of Murray Kendon. His first flight was as an 11-year-old in a MAF Cessna at Ardmore airport. His brother Grant and his wife Sharon served as long-term MAF missionaries and Lawrence has served on the MAF NZ board for many years.
